S.M. Freedman studied at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York and spent years as a private investigator on the not-so-mean streets of Vancouver, before returning to her first love: writing.
She is the author of The Faithful ( Thomas & Mercer), which became an International Amazon Bestseller, reached the Quarter Finals in the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award, and was selected by Suspense Magazine as a "Best Debut of the Year,” Impact Winter, and The Day She Died (Dundurn Press, Tantor Media). Her latest psychological thriller, Blood Atonement (Dundurn Press, Tantor Media), was selected by the Globe & Mail as one of the BEST 100 BOOKS OF 2022, recommended by the Vancouver Sun and The Province as one of five B.C. books worth buying this season, and was a finalist in the Crime Writers of Canada’s Awards of Excellence.
She lives in Vancouver with her husband and two children. She’s a proud member of Sisters in Crime, Crime Writers of Canada, International Thriller Writers, and Mystery Writers of America.
